Twenty ways to travel in India

12/28/2016

I’m back…

Yes, I’m back, it’s been so long and now I am writing a guide called twenty ways to travel in India.  Are you ready for the most epic traveling guide of India? (let’s just say it is to make the intro cool) ready…
  1. If you are blond haired then get ready to be surrounded by cameras, my advice for this is if they want to take a pic just say we must go, and if you do want to take a selfie then more people will want selfies with you. Beware, they like to pitch your cheek.
  2. Now in India do not put tap water in your mouth, and that includes brushing your teeth, and drinking water and much more, one it does not taste nice, and two you might get a poorly tummy and you don’t want that do you.
  3. A lot of people think they will be staying in lovely hotels but if you are a real traveller then do not expect that, you will be able to stay in nice places because it’s very cheap, but my advice is don’t stay in those places if you want to have a real experience of India.
  4. There are millions of things to do in India, now you will not finish them all. What a lot of people do is go to temples all the time and that is one of my star pics, go to temples they are glorious. There are other things to do like go kayaking, climbing plus cricket with the Indian kids, one of my favourites and much more but come to India and find out for yourself.
  5. Everyone loves Tuc tuc’s but there is a price you should pay; a good price is 100 rupees if you are going 10 minutes, and if you’re going 5 minutes 50 rupees is a good price. Now you must watch out and tell the tuc tuc driver you’re going directly to the place you want to go because he might be taking you to lots of stores (where he gets a commission) to buy things and trust me you don’t want to be in that situation.
  6. One of the top things they do India is break the rules, so that means they will push into queues, go on the wrong way in the roads. No I mean it, they will go the wrong way, and much more. What’s so funny is they will have rules that you must follow, however they break a lot of rules. I just don’t get it and you won’t!
  7. Well, we always have a part in our life were we nearly died and in India it’s crossing the roads. If you are crossing a road in India there could be someone going as fast as a cool high school boy in a Lamborghini and in my mind, that is sooooo fast so I suggest you get ready for that if you are going to India.
  8. You have gone quite far into the blog now. It is not a very long blog who knows some guy from India might steal the name of this blog oh that reminds me. In India, they steal lots of famous brands names, so if you are going to have a packet of Eclairs be ready for it to be a rubbish brand that stole the name of a brand and then made some bad chocolate and I mean be ready.
  9. Cows, cows, cows. Do you like cows? Well in India you have to. The streets of India in cities are full of cows on the roads, and pigs also goats and my favourite cats and dogs, yes lots but more in places like Delhi, Pushkar and Jaipur so you better not be allergic to animals because there are plenty of them in India.
  10. In the south of India, their water is very precious so if you go there don’t have long showers, save some water for the community that you’re staying in, although its hard (well it is for me) just go with it.
  11. Do you remember on number what I said, well just remember it or go read it again!! Basically, you might come back with a bruised face from lots of cheek pitching, it’s not that painful but still for me it’s a little annoying.
  12. For me the best thing to probably do in in India is drink a banana lassie and its cheap and they are everywhere.
  13. I love India but as you have seen from my blog a lot of bad things happen to you so I suggest at the end of your trip fly to a nice place Mumbai and stay at the Taj Mahal palace but you need to save lots of money.
  14. India is so hot, BUT do take warm clothes with you because in some places like Delhi mum made a stupid decision to throw away all her warm clothes and then at night she got so cold, but that’s only in the north as in the south you will get so hot you will need short sleeve tee-shirts and shorts
  15. If Indians wobble there head like they are saying no, there saying yes, and sometimes if they say yes they don’t know what you mean but they just feel like saying it.
  16. Who likes spices in their curry? you may like that but in India DO NOT ask for that, no seriously don’t otherwise you will burn your head off. In some places, it’s not spicy but that is very unlikely, however if you have gone to India before and your fine with the spices like my mum (plus my dad), then you can but be aware.
  17. You have to like curries here because they even serve it for breakfast, it took me so long to scavenge for pancakes they even have rice cakes (there not real cakes they’re just a rectangle of rice) that you dip into the curries it’s so different.
  18. Do you like movies?  In India they have really cool theatres but there are some things you need to know about them; (1) there are so loud (2) there are lots of religious symbols (3) lots of dancing even more than the Sound Of Music (4)most of the time the green or blue screen is so bad, like we watched a movie in India were in part of a film a guy came from space to earth in a motorcycle covered in cold down the building and on the clouds, it was like some kids making a movie with the badest green or blue screen.
  19. When you have traffic in India it’s not just cars, it’s cows, goats, street kids, beggars, dogs and much more so if you are claustrophobic you’ll have a hard time in India.
  20. Finally, I suggest if you go to India you go to the south to Kerala. It has a lot of lush hills and rivers and there are lots of beaches and big waves for surfing, which I did a lot of.
So, we have come to the end of my epic journey now and I hope you have liked my blog. If you want to see any of my pics go on to my Instagram page called fredhugo777

My story:
I’m a ten-year-old boy on a trip around the world with many exciting experiences. I’ve been to places from laughter down to sadness. I’ve had points in this trip where I missed home, but I will never forget the friends I’ve made and the things I’ve done, and hope someday I will go back to traveling…

paradise islands

It was an amazing day and very good because we were going snorkelling to the Four Islands. First we got a Tuk Tuk to Old Town pier where are boat  was moored.  We were going to swim in caves and over reefs, it looked so exciting I couldn’t wait. We went on a traditional long tail boat and crossed the Andaman sea, passing a lot of other islands. The islands were beautiful, with lovely coconut palm trees and quartz white sand beaches. The local Thai guide told us which islands we’d be going to they were Koh Ngai, Koh Mook, Koh Chuek, and Koh Kradan, and told us about the islands. When we finally got to our first island there were a lot of people there and the island looked amazing. We got our kit on; snorkel, life jacket, mask and flippers, then jumped in the water. The reef looked amazing and the water was so deep and crystal clear. We explored, swimming around a lot of the reef, after 40 minutes of swimming over fish, reefs, and sand the guide said it was time to go. We were going to the next island and this one was special because it had a cave. We swam into the cave, called The Emerald cave, and it was so dark we couldn’t see a thing, even the guide’s torch didn’t do anything. We swam 80 meters through the cave, when we came out there was a stunning small beach, surrounded by trees and rock faces. If you know the film ‘The Beach’ this is where part of it was filmed. We swam back out of the cave to the speed boat that was very traditional, made of wood, and very old. We had some fruit that was so sweet and sour, I gobbled up the pineapple as it’s my favourite fruit. We then got to another island where we saw some really big fish with all sorts of colours and patterns and it was the same for the reef.  Our final stop was Koh Kraddan, where we had lunch. There was a lovely view of many small and large islands, they were tall forested islands with lots of rocks and beaches.  We walked down the beach for a bit then we got back and couldn’t wait for the next adventure…
Miss you all friends at home, can’t wait till I get back…
Special thanks to my mum

No riding the Elephants please

11/8/2016

We got off the bus arriving at an elephant nature park with no chains or riding. As we got into the cafeteria a fat furry cat was sat on one of the tables. The first thing we did was feed the elephants and I’m sure they were hungry. We sat on the table with our group who were nurses and used to be in the military working in the navy as medics.  They were called Alisha and Jake. They were really nice. Our guide told us that the elephants use their trunks to grab things. We finally settled in and were ready to take a walk so we did. We walked around the park and we looked at some of the elephants and it looked like they were throwing mud everywhere. The guide said for them it was like having a hot tub. As we walked back still looking at the elephants playing in the mud we could see the park.  For lunch we had rice, curry, noodles with soup and much more. After a lovely lunch, we went to wash the elephants. We got to the river and the guide said just fill the buckets with the water and put the water on the elephant. When we were done, we went out for another walk down the river. We watched the dogs swim up and down the river with the elephants. We walked back with the dogs by our side still wet from their lovely swim. We got back and the staff were ready to show us our rooms and to be sure they were better than we thought they would be. The view on the balcony was amazing there was a lovely view and the beds were very comfortable. When we got out I spotted a sign saying ‘Cat Kingdom’ so I went in and saw there were hundreds of cats. All the cats were rescued from floods and many more disasters plus they were so cute. When I’d finished in Cat Kingdom the staff did a welcome meeting to tell us about the park. When we’d done the welcome meeting, we had dinner and I chatted with some people who were volunteers for the rescued dogs shelter and they were from Toronto (Canada). After along chat with them I headed to the Cat Kingdom to relax with the cats and to say good night. We walked back to our room with a dog following us and we couldn’t get it to go back so we had to sleep with it in our room. After a long day, we could finally get some rest and I was ready for the next day I was so excited…
Today was the last day at the elephant sanctuary. I had planned to go to the dog shelter, I was so excited. We rushed to breakfast, as we were late we rushed down to the breakfast bar.  Lucky we did, there were a few Cheerio’s left (result). While I was sat at the table eating my Cheerio’s the guide told us what we would be doing today.  Our guide today was different person, and she told us we would be walking with the elephants. After I had finished breakfast we headed off to do our walk. We went down the river and back up to the park. We did this until we were chased around the park by the baby elephants. And they then stopped but it was not over, the Buffalos started chasing me. I was able to get to a safe spot (phew…) it was quite close I must admit. When we got back the group were going to make rice balls but I wanted to go and walk the rescued dogs. One of the volunteers said he’d take me and was happy for me to help. We first walked a dog who had bites from birds. We walked him down the road and back I think his name was Smoky I am not sure. I then walked a dog called Bao’bao who could only walk on his front legs so we had to put him on a wheel chair (the wheel chair we used was different to a human wheel chair). When we’d finished the walk I went to wash one of the dogs, we had to wear rubber gloves because the dog we were washing had a disease. My mom then came over to the dog sanctuary to say it was time to get back. The volunteers took a pic with me,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            I was going to miss everybody I had met at the elephant sanctuary and any of you who met me at the park miss you all very much Xxx

Why can't we have tuk tuks in England?

The day we arrived in Bangkok was a warm welcome. I only walked a minute or so and I was already sweating. We came out the airport with our water bottles empty ready to get the train. When we got to our stop, and walked out of the train station, we found there were no taxis and only a tuk tuk, we could just fit our bags in the small vehicle. But WOW what a ride! My first tuk tuk and I want to do more. We arrived at our hostel thirsty, hot and dirty it was not a pleasant night. As we went to dinner I could barely walk, my feet swollen and my eyelids drooping. We finally got to the hostel ready to sleep as I fell into bed 1..2..3..zzzzzzz.

The next day we were ready for some tourism and could not wait to see what was on the breakfast table. I rushed downstairs to find there was everything you could imagine. Cornflakes, peanuts, toast, juice, and a different selection of fruit. After breakfast we went out to start a Thailand trip in the largest market in the world. There were massage parlour’s, clothes stores, toy shops, and food places. We got back still feeling our shoulders relaxed from the lovely massage.  Also as we were going back we went past The Grand Palace where the Thai people were visiting the body of the dead King. We got back to the pool table, wait, oh I didn’t mention the pool table did I.  So we played pool for a couple of hours and then we went out for dinner. When we got back we went to bed early as we still had a bit of jet lag, but we still had an amazing sleep.

This was the last day in Bangkok, we went out seeing that there was rain, and when I say rain I mean it was the worst rain any western person had been in.  We got a Tuk Tuk to the river but not quite where we wanted to go, so we went on a trek through the fish market which smelt very ugly, to the place we wanted to go to. We finally got to the boats and got on one of the ferries which took us down the river where we went into another market. This place had a lot of restaurants and it was a good time to find that out as we were hungry. As we rushed into the restaurant ready to eat and looking at myself and thinking how wet I was. Even though I had a rain coat I was still soaked and I was ready to get back. We walked back and got some snakes as we did not have pudding at the restaurant. When we finally got back I played a bit of pool with one of the staff at the hostel and he beat me. After a few hours of rest then we went out for dinner and the we went to bed it was a big day so I drifted off to sleep very fast.
The next day we were going to go to our next stop so I played my last game of pool. When the taxi finally arrived we got into it and in a second we were of and ready to go…

Today I am telling you about are trip to Cordoba. To get to Cordoba we had to go on an overnight bus trip which we slept on. We stayed in a hostel called Areca hostel which was a really good hostel. We finally got some fresh air and walked around for a bit as we had planned to go to sleep today. We only saw a bit of Cordoba and we went to look about what was going on for tomorrow. We finally got back and went to sleep so we had our energy for the night. When we woke up we went to dinner there were people from all sorts of countries and we stayed up till about midnight. All the people we met were really nice and friendly.  They even cooked us Argentinian sausages on the BBQ and we all ate together.  We met some Brazilian tennis players with their coach, an Australian guy, an Irish couple, French and Germans, a Mexican guy, and an Italian girl from Sicily, as well as lots of Argentinians.
When we woke ready to have breakfast we got dressed and went downstairs, and guess what, standing right in front of me SALTED CARAMEL MOUSSE!!!!! It was the most amazing mousse ever to have laid in front of a human being DUM DUM DUM!!!!! There was also butter but, come on, that’s nothing to the SALTED CARAMEL MOUSSE!!!!! (DUM DUM DUM). When we were all ready we went out to do some sightseeing. We now knew what was on and not on. We first went to a museum that was a big house and they have kept it to look like it used to be. They had some amazing pictures so check out the link below.  After we had a look around Cordoba, we ate cake and drank hot chocolate and then we went back to the hostel.
The next day we went for a little walk around Cordoba and then got back ready to have a rest, before another overnight bus, and actually that’s what I’m doing right now!!!
Today’s challenge is to try to make a friend from a different county.

Buenos Aries And San Antonio de Areco

Today I’m telling you about the start of are trip in Argentina.
We first got on a plane from Rio to Buenos Aries. We were staying in an Airbnb for 3 nights.
The next day we went out and looked around the shops and stands. We found a lot of people trying to sell food and jewellery plus there was 2 tango dancers a man and women who were busking for money. There was also a band playing who were really good we bought a cd from them. After that we went and got lunch in a restaurant the food was really good. After wandering around the stands when we finally got back we had family movie time were we all sat together in bed and watched a movie together.
After a morning breakfast we went on a tour bus as we had planned we went around a bit of the city where we saw the football stadium for the team that Maradonna used to play for Bocca Juniors. We then got off the bus in to the commercial zone where I got a football top from the sports shop. We also had a snack at the bakery next door to the sports shop. We then went across the road to the mall to get a sim card and a coat for dad because it was so cold. When we finally got what we wanted from the mall we went to the bus station to get tickets from Buenos Aries to San Antonio De Areco. We then got back on the tour bus to get back to the Airbnb. When we got back we played the word game which is a game where you have to make words and the first person to run out of letters wins.
The day after the tour bus we went on are bus trip that we had got tickets for. When we arrived on the bus we went for a walk around the town. We noticed in the town that a lot of dogs did not have owners so I got to stroke them the whole day. We had lunch in town and the dogs kept following us so we sat outside so we were with the dogs. The food was really good I had some pizza and some chips there were also a large selection of cakes there was even a salted caramel cake yum yum yum.
The next day we were going to go horse riding in the country side. The man who was running it was really nice I even got to play with their football. They also had lots of animals as it was a farm. We also had pork, steak, lamb and beef cooked on an open fire. The cowboys showed us their tricks on the horses they also played some music. After the horse riding we had to leave so we said good bye and he got us in the truck and drove us back to the hostel.
So right now here I am writing about my blog and thinking about all the lonely dogs. So I’m going to set  a task I want you to do please. Donate to an animal shelter #dogstrust or one local to you.

A tale of three Cities

Today I’m telling you about LA, Carlsbad and Las Vegas.
We start off with LA where we went to see Wheel of Fortune live on set and lots more, like actors walking about. I had my photo taken with some. The day after we arrived we went into the city. We went to the art district were there was loads of street art. And guess what the place in the art district were the guy who showed us around, the DJ Skrillex used to live there and you still see him skate boarding around the neighbourhood. Then there was a little japan which was like a town which had Japanese toy shops and restaurants. The toy shops where amazing they had really snugly toys and lots of Pokémon toys. We had sushi and it was amazing and really delicious.
The next place we went to was Carlsbad, San Diego where we stayed with some of our friends. There was a private swimming pool on the housing estate, it was a bit posh. The day after we arrived we went to the pool for a bit then went to see the sunset at the beach it was so peaceful there it felt like home. The next day we went to see a bit of San Diego where we got stuck in a massive traffic jam. We then left the next day and said bye and that was the end of our trip in Carlsbad but I liked David and Carolyn because they made it feel like being at home.
We then went to Las Vegas where we stayed in the flamingo hotel where they had a massive swimming pool which had a water slid that was humongous, well not that big but I like the word humongous. We also went on a helicopter over the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. When we were in the helicopter there were people camping and mining for gold they looked like tiny ants from where we were. Las Vegas was so amazing I also got to do virtual reality and had the best ice cream ever I had salted caramel and some sweets on the to. It’s also so hot in Vegas as it’s in the desert like are car journey into Las Vegas was so hot and there were lots of cactus's and the rock formation was amazing. We went on the High Roller where we got to look over Las Vegas it was a Ferris wheel but better.

From surfing to kayaking

We first went from Lincoln city to a town called Brookings. Before we got into California we had to go through a small border where you weren’t allowed to take any fruit into the state. When we got into Brookings we found a motel that had a swimming pool so we nipped in there for a bit.
The next day we first had our breakfast at the breakfast bar in the motel. We then went to see a garden which was supposed to have lots of lovely flowers, turns out all of the flowers are dead but we did get to see a family of Deer’s. We then went to have tea at a Mexican restaurant and the food was so spicy. After that we headed up to the pawn shop where I brought a ‘Walking Dead’ comic and they had a coke bottle that was from 1970.
Today was the last day in Brookings. In the afternoon was so funny, dad and mum told me we were going to a restaurant but then we came into the cinema. I said “why are we in the cinema? “ and turns out dad had booked us tickets for the new Jason Bourne movie. The movie was amazing I’d rate it 10 out of 10.
The next morning, we had to find a motel to stay in.  First We saw some trees called the Redwoods they were so cool and so tall they were over 1000 years old and we even got to drive through one that had been carved out. They also have a really thick bark that is fire resistant. We even saw a big deer that looked at us straight in the eye. We went inland a bit because the motels on the coast were so much money and we finally got to a place called River View Garden Resort where you can canoe down the river for free.
The next day we went canoeing down the river I did some of the canoeing for a bit but then dad did it for me (thanks dad). When we got back I went to stroke the owner of the motels dogs, one was called Mimi who was 12 and one was called Pumpkin who was 9.
Today mum and me headed off to the beach while dad sat at home uploading our blogs. When we were at the beach I caught a fish and called it Spiky, I obviously put him back where he came from and there were a family next to us who had caught some lobsters that were massive. We then headed back and we played in the water for a bit just before we went to bed. We then finely got to bed after an exciting day.

Well I am not so far away - Lincoln City

Today I’m going to be telling you about my 3 days in Lincoln city.

The 1st day we had to find a motel on highway and we ended up staying at the Nordic Viking Hotel which was right next to the beach. When we got inside the office to get are room I noticed that your allowed to rent movies, there were really good movies like ‘X Men Last Stand’ and Fantastic 4, and much more, plus the room had an amazing view of the beach. The first thing I did when we got in is I got dressed in to my swimming gear because there was a swimming pool and a Spa so I had a swim for a bit. We then had dinner just before we were about to have a walk down the beach so when we had finished we went to the beach as we had decided earlier on. When we were walking back I spotted a sand castle that looked like it was supposed to be a temple of some kind so we took lots of pics of the sand castle. When we had finally got back we went to bed after a long day.

We decided yesterday we were going to travel outside of Lincoln city to do some whale watching. The first thing we did when we woke up was we went to breakfast were there was a breakfast room which the guests were allowed in like us and you got to choose what breakfast you wanted. Of course I chose waffles. Fact: in America everything has sugar in it (true). When we had finished breakfast we got into the car for our small trip. The  first place we stopped at was the whale watching where we got to see some amazing views of them coming up and down. Fact: whales have to be underwater for 3 mins before they can come up. We also got some really good pics of the whales from head to fins. We then went to Devils Punch Bowl were part of The Goonies was filmed lots of people surfed and we saw lots of surfers. We also saw some baby squirrels wondering around happily in nature. We then headed back to the motel. When we got back we had dinner and watched a documentary on the history about D-day and then there was another documentary on the history of Walt Disney.

The next day me and mum went surfing at The Devils Punch Bowl. We were doing it with 2 kids and a guy who worked at the surf shop and what was so funny about him is every time I did something he went sick man or awesome he was really funny. It was really fun doing the surfing there were waves up to 6 f.t *WOW*. After the lesson mum and me relaxed on the beach for a bit. We then went home and went in the spa and went for a swim in the swimming pool I also came back to our room and played on the iPad for a bit. We then went to bed as we all were very tiered and the next day we needed a lot of energy.

Back in the US...the USA. Not that I have been before!

Today I will be telling you about the start of our trip to The States.

To get across the border we went on a bus trip from Vancouver (Canada) to Seattle and saw The Space Needle.  At Seattle Airport we picked up a hire car which I chose.  I chose a Toyota because my brother Barney works for Toyota right now.  We then drove to a small town called South Tacoma where we went to an active volcano called Saint Helens and the last eruption was in 1986. We then went to Portland and stayed with some couch surfers. When we got there I played ‘Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies’ (but don’t tell mum and dad!!) with Caleb who was one of the oldest of the family.
The next day we went to the city centre of Portland where we explored Portland and visited different places around Portland. We walked to Powell’s book store where I got a book to read and a comic book. We then walked to Voodoos Dounuts where we had the most amazing dounuts and brought some back for the family to share the next day. The shop was decorated with glitter *wow* and the dounuts were displayed in a revolving glass cabinet, and no it’s not an ordinary dounut shop the dounuts were filled with icing and sugar, and they even had a vanilla dip with pink icing in the middle and there was a salted caramel one and it had custard inside it the (see pictures of the dounuts below). When we got back we went to bed from a big day.
On are third day of Portland we visited the science museum were I met some more members of the family that we were staying with called Laithe who was 13 and a little girl called Vesper who was 7. We went around the museum and looked at a section called ‘The Journey of Space’ which had some very good information about space. When we got back I played some ‘Forza’ which is a racing game and I played it with Laithe and Vesper. And then me and Laithe played ‘Halo Reach’ which was really fun.
Today was the last day at Portland so Mum, me, Laithe and Vesper went to the swimming pool I did some diving on the board for a bit and then I went to play with Laithe for a bit. Later on we all went to a night time ‘Diversity Festival’ with music and food, and the best bit was mum and dad danced (see video below).
The next day we had to say bye to the family before a big trip on Highway 101.
Keep checking for updates
